Creating Multiple RWMX/RWMC Instances

After you have installed and setup your first SSD with the Master instance, each additional SSD

that you monitor requires you to create a new instance of the software.

If you plan to install more than two SSDs, on the same computer, you will need a multi-port serial

card in your computer. Sensorsoft Corporation offers high-quality multi-port serial cards. More

information is available on our web site (see Getting Help).

Follow these instructions to add an additional instance. Please note that all settings in the Master

instance are copied when a new instance is created. Additional instances can only be added and

removed using the Master instance. The Master instance is indicated by the letter M on the

monitoring window as shown in Fig. 1.

1. Click on the Instance Manager tab.

2. Specify a unique instance name. In this example we are going to use “Paris, France – Server

Room”. Please note that certain characters are reserved (i.e. \ / * % | : " ? <> ) by the software

and are not available for use as a part of your Instance Name. If you attempt to use a reserved

character an error message is generated and the software will abort the addition of the new

instance.

3. Click on the ‘Add New Instance’ button.

After you see the message “Done - adding software instance…” you should notice that a short-

cut is created on your desktop and in your start menu. Follow the above procedure each time you

wish to monitor an additional SSD.
